Recapping the Commanders Bears Thursday night game

The first half of this game was as expected, a low scoring and defensive led game in the first half, with both of these teams having some of the worst offenses in the NFL. There were some major takeaways with Justin Fields really struggling in the red zone and Roquan Smith making big plays on Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz.

Let’s start with the Bears and Justin Fields struggling in the red zone, Fields threw a crucial pick to take the lead in the middle of the second quarter, Fields did make a couple nice plays in the first half but overall struggled. Bears defensive star Roquan Smith made some huge plays including 2 sacks and some key tackles on Wentz to keep the score close.

The second half was a bit more exciting with two touchdowns being scored, one by each team with David Pettis having a receiving touchdown thrown by Justin Fields and Brian Robinson running a touchdown in, in the red zone. The Bears should have won this game, the Bears beat the Commanders in damn near every statistical category but turnovers cost the Bears with a red zone interception and a lost fumble, this is a young Bears team and they are improving each and every week but they don’t have a lot of room for error.

Credit to the Commanders as they rallied late in the fourth quarter to score nine unanswered points, despite what fans and Commanders head coach Ron Rivera thinks about Carson Wentz turning the ball over over the last five weeks but with Wentz having a clean game, you can’t complain about this game with Wentz. The Commanders advance to 2-4 as the Bears drop to 2-4.
