With the Saints having multiple injured players on offense and defense, and with the Cardinals being so drama-filled, this was going to be a good matchup regardless of the score. With DeAndre Hopkins making his season debut and facing off against Premier cornerback Marshon Lattimore, looking into this matchup really had potential to make for a great game.
The Cardinals are one of the slowest teams to start a game, the Saints jumped out to a 7 to 3 lead at the end of the first quarter, with Andy Dalton, throwing a crucial red zone interception that really gave the Cardinals away back to take the lead in the second quarter, but with the Cardinals struggling to find the end zone they settled for three points. With Marshon Lattimore being ruled out for this game with an injury this really gives the Cardinals an edge to take advantage of a weak Saints secondary.
Even though Andy Dalton had four touchdowns, the three interceptions really cost New Orleans the game, this was a much higher scoring game than most predicted as the Cardinals beat the Saints 42-34. Late in the second quarter Kyler Murray appeared to have yelled at head coach Kliff Kinsbury and with cameras and the media picking that up it quickly became a huge talking point going into halftime.
The second half is where it really picked up as Kyler and D-Hop revitalized their connection from last season with Hopkins having a 100 yard receiving game, but with Arizona having one of the worst defenses in the league the Saints had many opportunities to score in the second half. Saints quarterback Andy Dalton had everything going for him as the Saints offensive line gave up no sacks, the Saints beat the Cardinals in almost every statistical category the Cardinals definitely ran away with this win as the Saints lost themselves the game with key turnovers and mistakes.
