As we head into week 10 of the NFL season, let’s go through my top picks for the NFL awards thus far in the season. Between the most surprising players to the overachievers this NFL season has been like no other, even though we’re only halfway through let’s go over my top picks for each of the NFL awards.
Most valuable player- Patrick Mahomes
With Patrick Mahomes being the most consistent player week to week and what he’s doing without Tyreek Hill definitely has to put Mahomes at the top of my list.
Defensive player of the year- Micah Parsons
Micah Parsons may not be the leader in any of the statistical categories, but what he’s doing with that Dallas Cowboys defense is absolutely phenomenal and something we haven’t seen in a long time.
Offensive player of the year- Tyreek Hill
With Tyreek Hill on pace to break multiple records and doing it without his former teammate Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill has really been one of the most valuable players in the NFL this season.
Offensive rookie of the year- Kenneth Walker lll
With Kenneth Walker exploding onto the scene in the last month he has to be in consideration in my top pick for offensive rookie of the year.
Defensive rookie of the year- Sauce Gardener
Many consider rookie corner Sauce Gardener to be a top five defensive back in the NFL already as a rookie, and last week he showed that against the Buffalo Bills, with what Gardner is doing with this Jets defense is something spectacular, even as a rookie.
Coach of the year- Pete Carol
What Pete Carroll has done with the Seattle Seahawks team this season is something we haven’t seen in a long, long time, without star quarterback Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll has given this organization and team juice that they didn’t look like they had this off-season.
Most disappointing team of the year- Indianapolis Colts
With the Indianapolis Colts having a bright future ahead of them this season with newly acquired quarterback Matt Ryan, and great pieces all around the team, this Colts team had massive upside and potential but has overall struggled throughout the whole organization.
Most surprising team of the year- Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are currently leading the charge in the NFC West, no one predicted this Seahawks team to be nearly as good as they are, many predicted the Seattle team to be one of the worst teams in the NFL and currently they are looking like they are going to make the playoffs and potentially have a Home playoff game.
Comeback player of the year- Geno Smith
With what Geno Smith is doing this year is unbelievable as he has completely changed his career trajectory, Geno has been a career back up for many years now and what he’s doing in Seattle this year is unheard of.
