After playing his last NFL home game in the Cardinals stadium white announces retirement the next day and took the football community by storm with essentially every fan, media member and players reacting to his retirement post with gratitude and appreciation for the player he is.

Watt is a no brainer Hall of Famer as he is going down as one of the best defensive lineman to ever play the game, Watt is a 12 year veteran who played 10 seasons with the Houston Texans, who originally drafted him in 2012 with the number 11 overall pick in the draft and his last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. JJ has accumulated over 111 sacks, 27 forced fumbles, 313 QB hits, 191 tackles for loss and multiple touchdowns as a tight end on offense.

JJ is a phenomenal player even late in his career with Arizona and his personal achievement in the NFL are some of the best buy any defensive player ever as he’s wrapped up five pro bowl selections, five all pro teams, a Walter Payton Man of the year award, 2010s Hall of Fame team and three defensive player of the year awards, which is a very short list of players who have achieved nearly half of what JJ has achieved.

With Watt having injury rattled seasons over the last half a decade and a heart scare most recently. It made sense for JJ to hang it up after this year, and be more with his family while he’s still young.
