Week 17 in the NFL was nothing short of spectacular, some underdogs won and some teams are still on fire. Let’s go through my three biggest takeaways from Sunday’s games and why they should or shouldn’t be worried about their season.
NFC wildcard team dominance
As the wildcard race in the NFC is coming down to the wire, essentially all of the wildcard teams have dominant wins to boost their chances of making the playoffs in the NFC. With the New York Giants clinching a playoff spot thanks to a win over Indianapolis, Green Bay blowing out the Vikings at home, the Seahawks with a dominant win over the New York Jets and lastly, the Detroit Lions blowing out division rival Chicago Bears. With the Packers, Lions and Seahawks all fighting for the last two playoff spots, this is all going to come down to the wire in week 18.
Raiders fall to 49ers in Overtime
In a shocking game, we had a shootout between the Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers, with both teams starting below average quarterbacks. This game was an unexpected gem in the 4 o’clock window as the San Francisco 49ers edged out the readers 37-34 in overtime as they look to still fight for the number one seed in the NFC playoff bracket.
Dolphins and Eagles sputtering
Are the Miami dolphins and Philadelphia eagles sputtering? With the Dolphins losing to the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles losing to the helpless New Orleans Saints, both teams may have peaked too early. Both teams are dealing with lots of injuries to their quarterbacks and roster all around with the Eagles losing to the Saints, they put themselves in a bad position as they give the rest of the NFC a chance for the number one seed, and Miami Dolphins most likely playing themselves out of the playoffs in a shocking fashion.
