Saturday afternoon and night was a crazy scene as we had the first two games of wild card weekend kicking off with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars at 4:30 eastern time, and the New York Giants taking on the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:15. Let’s go through each game and give my overall thoughts on it.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Jacksonville Jaguars
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20 to advance to the AFC championship game for the fourth straight time. With Patrick Mahomes injuring his ankle early in the first quarter this game felt like it could be a close game and credit to head coach Andy Reid who dialed up plays for backup quarterback Chad Henne and scored a touchdown to Travis Kelce, Kelce had a phenomenal game with two touchdown receptions. Even though Jaguar fans are disappointed that the season is coming to an end they are arguably the most overachieving team this year and have a lot to look forward to in the future.
New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are advancing to the NFC championship game as they destroyed the New York Giants with a 38-7 win on Saturday night. With Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts having a pretty good game with two touchdowns on 16-24 passing, Hurts had an overall efficient game and relied on the Eagles run game to carry this Philadelphia offense. The Eagles defense is what was really strong in this game as they gathered five sacks and multiple turnovers against an anemic Giants offense. With Daniel Jones and the Giants offense really struggling in this game they really couldn’t do much to keep up with Philadelphia on both sides of the ball?
