The NFL has had a very long week with breaking stories and new rumors coming out each and every day. With another very busy day in the news cycle for the national football league, let’s go through some of the biggest storylines and topics that have come out on Thursday.
First off we had some cuts and releases around the league due to players unavailable to reach agreements for contract restructures and what not, we had the New York Jets releasing all pro kick returner Braxton Berrios which clears up over five million in cap space.
Next up we had a couple big name players who restructured their contracts to stay with their respective clubs and open up cap space for their organization, first off we had Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen who restructured his deal to clear $8.9 million dollars in cap space to help the Chargers get under the cap for next year, second we had Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams who cleared another $5.46 million in cap space, thirdly we had Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Taylor Moton who cleared up $11 million in cap space and lastly Miami Dolphins defensive end Bradley Chubb who cleared up $14.646 million in cap space.
Lastly we had the New York Jets trade for Baltimore Ravens safety Chuck Clark for a 2024 seventh round pick. This was a cap clearing move for the Ravens and a great value pickup for the Jets to add to an already great defense which was one of the top of the league last year. This will save Baltimore $4.14 million in cap space heading into the offseason.
