The Miami Dolphins are making yet another big splash ahead of free agency which starts later next week. The Dolphins traded for all pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in exchange for a 2023 third round pick and backup tight end Hunter Long, this is obviously a huge trade that took over the NFL weekend and gives the Dolphins yet another superstar on their already stacked roster.
With Ramsey having a down year last season by his standards, Ramsey still had what would be a career year for most corners in the NFL, Jalen and the Rams had a season to forget last year with missing the playoffs entirely and being of the bottom teams in the whole league. With Ramsey now on the Dolphins he is adding an element which the Dolphins are already good at, which is defending the pass.
This Miami team seems to be going all in with trading for yet another star and compete for a championship in the AFC and a stacked AFC East division. This Miami defense could be the best defense in the league next year with multiple pro bowl level pass rushers and multiple all pro and pro bowl level secondary players.
Obviously this is a no brainer for the Dolphins that you can get a top corner in the league for a third round pick and a backup tight end. For the Los Angeles Rams this gives them extra draft capital and releases over twenty million dollars off their cap heading into next season.
