Wednesday 7th and 8th seed play in games

Hawks vs Hornets

The Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets game was not particularly close with Atlanta blowing out the Hornets 132-103 with Trae Young leading the way once again. With six Hawks players scoring in double digits, Young did have his fair share of help last night, the Hornets really struggled with shooting just 37.8% and 31.7% from 3 point land, the Hornets will be going home in the play-in tournament for the second straight year with blowout losses in both years. Atlanta will now be playing the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 8th seed on friday.

New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs

The New Orleans Pelicans will now be playing the Los Angeles Clippers on friday for the final play-in spot on friday. With a big win the Pelicans beat the Spurs 113-103 with C.J Mccollum leading the way with 32 points on 52% shooting and Brandon Ingram being a big contributor with 27 points. The Pelicans are continuing to look better and better everyday without star player Zion Williamson. The San Antonio Spurs once again are missing the playoffs and are now looking forward to this offseason, with All-Star point guard Dejonte Murray having a rough game only scoring 16 points on 26% shooting it wasn’t a shock that the Spurs were going to lose this game.

Tuesdays 7th and 8th seed play in games

Nets vs Cavaliers

With the Brooklyn Nets securing the 7th seed in the playoffs, it looks like the Boston Celtics will be getting their first round playoff matchup again. Last year Brooklyn blew the doors of the Celtics in route of a 4-1 series win but Boston will be getting another crack at Brooklyn this year. The Brooklyn Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-108 thanks to Kyrie Irving’s 34 point double double and Kevin Durant 25 point double double, Cleveland will have another shot at making the playoffs by playing the winner of the Hawks and Hornets game on Friday. Despite the loss Cavs point guard Darius Garland had a phenomenal game with 34 points on 54% shooting.

Clippers vs Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Clippers 109-104 to secure the 7th seed and will be playing the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round thanks to a terrific game by Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell, combining for 59 points. Karl Anthony Towns may not have had a great game by only scoring 11 points but his team did get the win and will be playing in the playoffs for the first time in four years since Jimmy Butler left back in 2018. The Clippers will have another chance to make the 8th seed by beating the winner of the Pelicans, Spurs game, Paul George did have a good game by scoring 34 points on decent shooting percentages (41.7%FG, 50%3PT) but it wasn’t enough to lift the Clippers over the Timberwolves.

Lakers fire Frank Vogel

After having a dreadful and disappointing season the Los Angeles Lakers are officially firing head coach Frank Vogel, Vogel who won a championship with the Lakers 2 seasons ago will now be looking for his next head coaching job, Finishing with a 33-49 record this season, finishing 11th in the western conference and missing the playoffs it’s not a shocker that Vogel was going to be gone after this season, but is it all Vogel’s fault?

With many candidates names being thrown out into the mix some names have been Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, Utah Jazz head coach Quiin Schnieder, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers and many others, but who would want this job? If you were me i would stay far away from the Lakers head coaching position, take out the bubble championship this hasn’t been a close to well run organization in the last decade, the Lakers have missed the playoffs 7 out of the last 9 years and they don’t have many good pieces on this roster and little to no draft capital for the upcoming years.

With owner Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Palinka making a mess of this roster, what coach would want to step into this? You have championship expectations every year, an aging star in LeBron who’s probably gone in a year from now, Anthony Davis who is a star and should be in his prime but can’t stay healthy, Russell Westbrook whose contract is egregious to say the least and the oldest roster in NBA history, the list goes on and on.

DK Metcalf best trade destinations

Seattle Seahawks star wideout DK Metcalf has been rumored to be on the trade block ever since Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner departed. With Metcalf being on the last year of his rookie contract and Seattle being in a clear rebuild DK could be on the move, teams around the league speculate DK could be on the move for the right price. Here are my top 5 trade destinations according to fit and the teams need for a wide receiver.

  1. Green Bay Packers

With DeVante Adams traded at the start of free agency and Marquez Valdes-Scantling leaving to join the Chiefs the Packers have a big hole to fill at receiver, With Metcalf being in the lineup he would be the perfect player for Aaron Rodgers.

  1. New York Jets

With trade rumors already going around the Jets reportedly offered the #10 overall pick for Metcalf and the Seahawks turned it down, it is reported that it would take at least two first round picks to acquire DK. It would be a pretty good fit considering being similar age to 2nd year quarterback Zach Wilson and the other receivers on the team.

  1. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts would be much higher on the list if they had a stable QB situation, with Indianapolis having its sixth starting QB in the last six seasons DK will be a great fit with Matt Ryan but would be a greater fit if Ryan was a few years younger.

  1. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have been a great, stable organization since entering the league, with Baltimore missing that true number 1 receiver DK could totally be that and the Ravens would have elite Skill positions with J.K Dobbins, Mark Andrews, and Hollywood Brown. The only downside to this is Lamar Jackson hasn’t developed much of his passing game since entering the league in 2018.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles

Same as the Ravens, Jalen Hurts hasn’t developed much of a deep ball and can be inaccurate at times that’s why the Eagles are much down on the list, the Eagles have had one of the worst receiving cores in the league for last couple years but that would change dramatically with Metcalf in the lineup. With Devonte Smith and DK Metcalf on the other side, that could end up being a top 5 receiving duo in the league one day.

Nets should drop to 9th seed

With the final day of the regular season NBA games the East play-in teams are all within a game apart, most should want to win to move up the standing but some could make a case for Brooklyn to rest KD and Kyrie to drop the final game.

Some would say Brooklyn losing tonight’s game and dropping down to the 9th spot in the East wouldn’t be a bad thing, with Milwaukee being the 2nd seed in the East Brooklyn would currently be playing the Bucks if they were to make it out of the play-in games, if I was in Brooklyn’s shoes I would drop to the 9th seed and possibly play either the Hawks or the Hornets in the play-in games and if they were to win play the Miami Heat in the first round.

With the Miami Heat being one of the more vulnerable number seeds in the last couple years Brooklyn would have a good shot at winning that series versus the Heat.

LeBron out remainder season, Luka miss season finale

Last night had some interesting news and headlines from LeBron being out for the remainder of the season to Luka getting another technical foul.

With the Los Angeles Lakers being out of the NBA play-in games the Lakers have officially shut down LeBron James for the remainder of the season. With James being out it will take him out of the NBA scoring title and winning his second. It was reported Friday afternoon LeBron suffered a ankle sprain on March 27th

Luka Doncic was assisted with his 16th technical foul of the season and will now be suspended for the Mavericks regular season finale. After Doncic was undercut by Trailblazers Elijah Hughes, after taking that shot Doncic was heated after no foul was called and Doncic was heard telling the Mavericks refs “How is that not a foul” and then that lead to Doncic’s 16th technical foul.

Brandin Cooks, Texans agree to two year extension

Texans star wideout Brandin Cooks was once reportedly on the trading block but is now staying put in Houston, with both sides agreeing to a two year extension worth just under $20 million a year, NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport reported late Thursday night. Cooks will now be under contract with the Texans through the 2024 season

After being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2014 with the 20th overall pick Cooks could never find a place to truly call home, since being drafted in 2014 Cooks has played for the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and now the Houston Texans. The 28 year old wideout will look to be the franchise guy for the foreseeable future with the star starved Texans.

After having a career year, last season he tallied 90 receptions for 1,037 yards and six touchdowns in his second year with the Texans Cooks is looking to build on that. Cooks has now had his sixth 1,000 yard year in his eight years of playing, and has had 1,000 yards for each team he’s played for.

Stefon Diggs and Buffalo Bills agree to massive extension

Wednesday morning the Buffalo Bills and pro bowl wideout Stefon diggs have agreed to a four year $96 million dollar extension, the 28-year-old wideout will be under contract through 2027.

After being traded to the Buffalo Bills two years ago Diggs has been nothing short of spectacular with Josh Allen, in his first season in Buffalo digs lead the NFL in receiving with 1,535 yards and his first all pro team honors with a pro bowl selection.

With Buffalo being the favorites to come out of the AFC Stefon will have his work cut out for him, Buffalo this offseason has been very aggressive with shelling out big money to Von Miller, Resigning Center Mitch Morse, adding D lineman DaQuan Jones and many other high impact players.
