Recapping the Panthers Falcons, Thursday night game

As predicted the Thursday night primetime game on Amazon, between the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers was expected to be a good one as both teams are battling it out to be in the race for the division crown. I predicted both teams should utilize the play action pass and sprinkle in the run game. Let’s take a look at each half of this game and my overall thoughts.

The first half of this game was rather slow as the Falcons offense  was sputtering in the first and second quarter as the run game was completely bottled up and the pass game was just not there. For the Panthers they had a bit more luck in the run game, but both teams still couldn’t put many points on the board until late in the second quarter when the Panthers scored.

The Panthers completely out who played the Falcons in the second half as Carolina set up the run game really well, with starting running back D’onta Foreman this Panthers offense completely ran through him as he racked up 31 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons on the other hand didn’t do anything in the run game as the leading rusher was quarterback Marcus Mariota with 43 yards, Mariota didn’t play well but on paper his stats didn’t look bad.

Overall, the Panthers won 25-15 and this was a great win for the Panthers as they are now 3-7, as the Falcons drop to 4-6 on the year, with the NFC South Struggling this is truly anybody’s division to win in even though the Panthers have a subpar record, they still have a fighting chance in the weak NFC conference.

Previewing the Panthers Falcons,Thursday night game

Heading into week 10 of the NFL season the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons will tip off on Thursday night and likely be another great primetime game. The last time these two met in week 8 they had an epic showdown as the Falcons barely squeaked out the win in overtime with the game winning field goal.

The Carolina Panthers have been one of the most disappointing teams, this season with firing head coach Matt Rhule, trading superstar running back Christian Mccaffrey and having a quarterback carousel throughout the year this Panthers team looks to build for their future, the Falcons have been one of the more surprising teams this year as they have been in close games pretty much every week and have upset some teams and other weeks.

The biggest X Factor for the Panthers to win this game is setting up a running game and passing the ball downfield via play action with Falcons corner AJ Terrell being out for this game, this panthers offense should really look to throw the ball and take advantage of a weak Falcons secondary.

The biggest X Factor for the Falcons is running the ball as multiple defensive lineman are out for the Panthers and the Falcons having the third best running game in the league which is rather surprising, but the Falcons should also look to use play action with the Falcons great playmakers in tight end Kyle Pitts and rookie receiver Drake London, Marcus Mariota has also been one of the more surprising quarterbacks this year as he has clearly had a great comeback season.

Overall I predict this to be a very close game, but I do have the Falcons winning 24-21.

NFL midseason awards

As we head into week 10 of the NFL season, let’s go through my top picks for the NFL awards thus far in the season. Between the most surprising players to the overachievers this NFL season has been like no other, even though we’re only halfway through let’s go over my top picks for each of the NFL awards.

Most valuable player- Patrick Mahomes

With Patrick Mahomes being the most consistent player week to week and what he’s doing without Tyreek Hill definitely has to put Mahomes at the top of my list.

Defensive player of the year- Micah Parsons

Micah Parsons may not be the leader in any of the statistical categories, but what he’s doing with that Dallas Cowboys defense is absolutely phenomenal and something we haven’t seen in a long time.

Offensive player of the year- Tyreek Hill

With Tyreek Hill on pace to break multiple records and doing it without his former teammate Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill has really been one of the most valuable players in the NFL this season.

Offensive rookie of the year- Kenneth Walker lll

With Kenneth Walker exploding onto the scene in the last month he has to be in consideration in my top pick for offensive rookie of the year.

Defensive rookie of the year- Sauce Gardener

Many consider rookie corner Sauce Gardener to be a top five defensive back in the NFL already as a rookie, and last week he showed that against the Buffalo Bills, with what Gardner is doing with this Jets defense is something spectacular, even as a rookie.

Coach of the year- Pete Carol

What Pete Carroll has done with the Seattle Seahawks team this season is something we haven’t seen in a long, long time, without star quarterback Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll has given this organization and team juice that they didn’t look like they had this off-season.

Most disappointing team of the year- Indianapolis Colts

With the Indianapolis Colts having a bright future ahead of them this season with newly acquired quarterback Matt Ryan, and great pieces all around the team, this Colts team had massive upside and potential but has overall struggled throughout the whole organization.

Most surprising team of the year- Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are currently leading the charge in the NFC West, no one predicted this Seahawks team to be nearly as good as they are, many predicted the Seattle team to be one of the worst teams in the NFL and currently they are looking like they are going to make the playoffs and potentially have a Home playoff game.

Comeback player of the year- Geno Smith

With what Geno Smith is doing this year is unbelievable as he has completely changed his career trajectory, Geno has been a career back up for many years now and what he’s doing in Seattle this year is unheard of.

Recapping Saints Ravens Monday night game

As we wrap up week 9 in the NFL season. The Baltimore Ravens will be taking on the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans on Monday night football, with the ravens making a key addition to the defense in Roquan smith at the trade deadline, last week they looked to integrate Smith into their defense and with a struggling New Orleans offense the Saints will look to capitalize on a struggling Baltimore defense. Let’s take a look at each half of this game and break it down on how each team played.

As we go through the first half the Ravens thus far have looked like the better team by a wide margin as Lamar Jackson set up a nice touchdown pass to rookie tight end Isaiah Likely, and Baltimore‘s rushing offense once again looks great, even without starting running back JK Dobbins. The Saints on the other hand look anemic on both sides of the ball as they can’t seem to get any sort of running game going and can’t stop the ravens run heavy offense. Even though the ravens struggle to throw the ball in this first half they’ve done a nice job spreading it around to all of their playmakers.

In the second half it was all about the Ravens run game as back up running back Kenyan Drake played really well throughout the game scoring two touchdowns and rushing for over 90 yards, Lamar Jackson also did a great job on the ground with over 80 yards. The Ravens didn’t do a great job passing the ball without their top to pass catchers in Rashad Bateman who is out for the year and Mark Andrews who’s out for this game, it’s quite impressive that the leading receiver on the ravens had 24 receiving yards and Baltimore still won by double digits.

The Saints red zone offense looked atrocious with Alvin Kamara getting a lack of touches, It really makes you wonder why New Orleans didn’t give Kamara the ball more for some reason, Kamara only got nine rushing attempts and gathered 30 yards on the ground, even though Saints quarterback Andy Dalton struggled at times New Orleans coaching really need to make some adjustments last night. Baltimore won 27-13.

NFL Sunday my 3 biggest takeaways

Week 9 in the NFL was nothing short of spectacular, some underdogs won and some teams are still on fire. Let’s go through my three biggest takeaways from Sunday’s games and why they should or shouldn’t be worried about their season.

    Jets upset the Bills

The New York Jets upset the Buffalo Bills who are considered to be the best team in the NFL, the Bills who were heavy betting favorites coming into this game lost 17-20 with Bills quarterback Josh Allen playing poorly with two interceptions and just sloppy play all around. The New York Jets and their fans have to feel ecstatic about this win against Buffalo and their chances to make the playoffs this year. This Jets team is a rangy and tough team, particularly on defense as the Jets are quickly becoming one of the best defenses in the league.

    Minnesota 7-1???

Are the 7-1 Minnesota Vikings underrated or overrated? I believe this Vikings team isn’t as good as their record makes them look, with this Vikings team barely pulling out a win against the Washington Commanders. The Vikings came from behind to win 20-17 against Washington and with Kurt Cousins playing a middle of the pack game this Vikings team has so much more potential if they had a better quarterback at the helm.

    NFC offensive struggles

With some of the best NFC teams in 2021 in the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, these three teams are all under .500 and their chances of making the playoffs are looking slimmer week by week and that’s particularly by the struggles on offense with these three teams. For the Bucs and Rams case their offensive lines are really struggling between injuries or losses in the offseason, for Green Bay’s case their offense looks anemic with the play of quarterback Aaron Rodgers with below average and rookie receivers, Rodgers hasn’t looked close to his former back to back MVP self, with the Packers and Rodgers having three interceptions against the Detroit Lions that really cost them the game and fall to 3-6 on the year.

NBA top three players of the season thus far

As we are over two weeks into the 2022-2023 NBA season let’s go through who are my top three players of the season thus far and why I put them on this list. These players don’t have to average the most points or be the leading player in any statistical category, but in the effort of winning and how they are playing will be mentioned on the list.

  1. Luka Doncic

My number one player has to be Luka Doncic, as he is averaging a whopping 36 9 and 9, which leads the NBA in points even though the Dallas Mavericks are only 4-3 on the season, the Mavericks aren’t considered to have a great roster other than Luka, with roster moves in the off-season like losing Jalen Brunson in free agency and trading for forward Christian Wood, this Mavericks team isn’t even a top 10 roster in the NBA.

  1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo in my opinion is the best player right now that’s far into the season as Giannis is averaging 34 13 and 5, while also being a top candidate for defensive player of the year early in the season, as the Bucks have the best record in the Eastern conference without Khris Middleton and other role players, Giannis has slowly become one of the most underrated players in the NBA considering how good he is.

  1. Shai Gilgeous Alexander

Another player who is flying under the radar, considering how good he is playing, is Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous Alexander who is averaging 32 5 and 6, with 2.4 steals and over 1.1 blocks a game. Even though the Thunder aren’t a good team, Shai has become very underrated in these last few years since being traded from the Clippers to the Thunder, just due to the fact that the Thunder are considered one of the worst teams in the league.

Recapping the Eagles Texans Thursday night game

As one of the better matchups of the primetime games this season, the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles take on the AFC South’s Houston Texans, as the Eagles are the biggest betting favorite in Thursday night history at -14. Yesterday I previewed this matchup and what each team‘s biggest X factor will be to winning this game. Let’s go through the game to finish it off with how close my prediction was.

In the first half Philadelphia’s first two scores were run plays with running backs, Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell, but the Texans showed poise, throwing for a touchdown in the first quarter, and looking really good throughout the first half as a whole. With the Eagles turning the ball over with a crucial Jalen Hurts fumble. It gave Houston away back into this game and gave them a shot to score again in the second quarter. With this explosive Eagles offense this Philadelphia team is getting the majority of their yards on chunk plays throwing to receivers.

Going into the second half with a tie ball game at 14-14 the Philadelphia eagles out scored the Houston Texans 15-3 in the second half and won the game 29-17, with one of the biggest questions going into this game was if the Eagles can close in the second half they sure look like they could last night, the Eagles have been one of the most struggling teams in the second half of games this season and last night proved that they can close out a game.

With quarterback play being the biggest differences last night, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen hurts had a nice game with two touchdown passes and a good sprinkle of rushing yards {23}, for the Texans quarterback Davis Mills had a rough game with two second half interceptions that really cost them the game, Davis Mills started out the first half on fire throwing for two touchdowns but the second half, credit to the Eagles as they made some great adjustments and forced Davis Mills into some bad throws.

Overall my prediction was close to the reasoning of I thought Houston had to keep it a low scoring game and run the ball effectively as they did with Damien Pierce, but the Eagles had too much fire power on both sides of the ball for the Texans to overcome that. Eagles improve to 8-0 as the Texans fall to 1-7-1.

Previewing the Eagles Texans Thursday night football game

Thursday night on Amazon prime is said to be the biggest betting favorites in the history of the NFL on Thursday night football as the Philadelphia Eagles are a 14 point betting favorite over the Houston Texans. The Philadelphia Eagles who are 7-0 take on one of the bottom teams in the league the Houston Texans, as Philadelphia looks to increase their win streak and the Texans look to get back on track this game could get out of hand rather quickly. Let’s go through the biggest X factor for each team to win this game in my overall prediction for this game.

For the Philadelphia Eagles, their biggest X Factor winning the game is how they’ve won most of their games this season with taking a first half lead and chewing the clock in the second half with running the ball and passing deep with their star pass catchers. The Eagles are one of the best running teams in the whole league, between Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and the eagles depth at running back with Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell.

For the Houston Texans their key to winning this game is to play smart football to force the Eagles into turnovers as this Houston team doesn’t have much room for error. Houston should look to run the ball with future star running back Damion Pierce, who has quickly become one of the best rookies in last year’s draft class. With wide receiver Brandon Cooks being questionable that really limits the Texans passing game, but the Texans should look to run the ball and keep this a low-scoring game anyways.

My prediction for this game is that the Philadelphia Eagles will win 27-13 and advance to 8-0, as the Texans continue to keep their season alive.
