Celtics vs Warriors game 5 recap

Andrew Wiggins and the Golden State Warriors are now just one game away from winning the NBA title. Wiggins had a career night finishing with a team high 26 points also grabbing 13 boards and also shot 12-23 {52.2% FG} not just Wiggins but the whole Warriors team shot horribly from beyond the arc {9-40, 22.5%} including 0-15 3PT from Wiggins and Curry combined which was Stephen Curry’s first game in over 3 ½ years with no made threes in a game and his first career playoff game without a three made. Curry really struggled this game just finishing with 16 points on 7-22 shooting, Klay Thompson did show up with 21 points with a few three’s made {5-11 3PT}.

You’ve got to be nervous as a Celtics fan as this team tends to become tight as the big moment arrives and that’s what’s happening here, although we’ve seen Boston twice in these playoffs come back from being down 2-3 in a series against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat. Jayson Tatum did play well with a game high of 27 points and to go with that 4 assists and 10 boards, but turnovers cost the Celtics in the end as Boston had 18 turnovers to Golden State’s 6. Considering how badly the Warriors shot beyond the arc and still won has to be a sign, but Boston has home court advantage heading into game 6.

Baker Mayfield staying with the Browns?

Should Baker Mayfield want to return to the Cleveland Browns for one more season? I think so, here me out, with all the news swirling around Deshuan Watson and all his allegations, it’s doubted that Watson will be playing any games for the Browns this season and this could be Baker’s chance to bring some of his trade value back. Deshaun Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns a few months ago and since then Baker Mayfield has done nothing but dig himself a bigger hole for the potential for teams to trade for him, with Mayfield spatting out on a podcast to anonymous teammates calling Baker out for his lack of play on the field, Baker should step back and look into playing for the Browns this season. Baker could go play for Cleveland this season and take some of the responsibility of his actions from the past and maybe play the Jimmy G role of knowing it’s not his team for the future but for now it is.

If I was in Baker’s shoes i would do exactly what San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garrapolo has done with the whole Trey Lance situation, Baker should just go play his best and show he’s grown up, which could potentially land him in the Sam Darnold category as his first team bailed on him but another team gave him a shot at the starting job for the foreseeable future. As of right now it doesn’t look like a single team wants Mayfield as he’s owed $19 million dollars and a team has to give up draft capital for him.

Celtics vs Warriors game 4 recap

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 107-97 to knot the finals up two games a piece. Curry had easily his best postseason game of his career finishing with 43 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists on a cool 14-26 shooting {53.8%} overall, Curry has had the public’s perception of he comes up short in the postseason and last night he showed those haters wrong, especially with his 14 points in the third quarter. It wasn’t all just about Curry last night as Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins had a huge night with a double double of 17 points and 16 rebounds which was a career high for Wiggins, in fact the Warriors dominated on the glass last night with 55 rebounds to Bostons 42 rebounds which has been huge in this series.

Even though the C’s lost Boston still played well with many of their role players playing good, like Marcus Smart with 18 points, Jayson Tatum with 23, Jaylen Brown with 21, and Derrick White with 16, so Boston had the scoring it was more of the fact that Boston had a hard time stopping Golden State down low which has been the decider in this series thus far.

As many in the media have said Robert William lll is the key for the Celtcis to win this series and i completely agree, with Williams shutting down the Warriors low post scoring it makes them a jump shooting team and no team can win strictly off jumpshots, as we saw in game 3 Williams had a phenomenal game on defense and made the Warriors hopeless so if Boston can get Williams to do that for the rest of that series it’ll be tough to beat Boston strictly off shooting from range.

NFL most overpaid and underpaid players in 2022

As we are halfway into the NFL offseason let’s look into the best and worst contracts from a team and fans perspective.

    Underpaid

  • Austin Ekeler RB, LA Chargers, Ekeler singed a 4 year $24.5 million dollar contract in 2020 and since then was ranked #7 amongst Rb’s by PPF, Ekeler was a big piece of the Chargers offense last year and is bound to get better this upcoming season.
  • Casey Hayward CB, ATL Falcons, after having a great year with the LV raiders the veteran found himself a new home for the future in Atlanta playing for the Falcons across front breakout corner A.J Terrell. Hayward signed a 2 year $11 million dollar contract and is easily a top 15 corner in this league.
  • Darren Waller TE, LV Raiders, Waller has been considered as a top 4 TE in the league when he’s healthy and his contract doesn’t match his performance, Waller signed a 4 year $29.8 million dollar contract in 2019 and has exploded onto the scene in 2020 for being underrated.

Overpaid

  • Christian Kirk WR, Jax Jaguars, Kirk got handed a bag to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason signing a 4 year $72 million dollar contract and many speculate this is what caused the wide receiver market to boom in this offseason, Kirk is now paid as a top 14 receiver despite even cracking the top 30 wideouts in the league.
  • Jamal Adams SS, Seahawks, Adams signed a 4 year $70 million dollar deal last offseason after being traded to the Seattle Seahawks and has yet to play up to that contract, especially for a strong safety which seems to be a position dying in the league. Adams was considered the top SS with his tenure on the NY Jets but has yet to play like that on the Seahawks.
  • Ezekiel Elliot RB, Cowboys, in 2019 Zeke signed a 6 year $90 million dollar deal making him what was the highest paid running back but is still 3rd amongst RB’s in 2022, Zeke has been a declining player every year since signing the contract in 2019 and has been linked to former Rams RB Todd Gurley as why you don’t pay RB’s in the NFL after their rookie deal is up.

Warriors vs Celtics game 3 recap

The Boston Celtics rout the Golden State Warriors 116-100 to take a 2-1 series edge. Boston’s trio of Jayston Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart combined for 77 points, Tatum finished with a great 26, 6 and 9 on poor shooting {39.1% FG, 33.3% 3PT}, Jaylen Brown finished with 27, 9 and 5 and Smart with 24, 7 and 5, the Warriors just can’t stop Boston on the defensive end and that’s truly been the game changer this series, coming into this series the notion was it was the Warriors top offense versus the Celtics lockdown defense and it’s just not been that, whether that’s the Warriors playing poorly on offense or the C’s defense clamping Golden States role players, besides Stephen Curry no other Warriors player has really come to life in this series, if anything Boston’s role players have been much more consistent on scoring in this series.

Klay Thompson did play well last night with 25 points but Golden State needs to find a way to slow down the Celtics on defense, it doesn’t matter how much Golden State scores their not going to have enough to both ends of the floor to keep up with the C’s, the Celtics are the much younger team with more energy to give and seems to be hungrier to win this series as of right now. Draymond Green has been awful so far with 15 points and 15 fouls committed so far in 3 games and fouled out last night, Draymond isn’t the same player since we last seen him in the 2019 finals and before with the amount of firepower the Warriors used to have Draymond worked on that old team but this 2022 Warriors team needs Draymond to be better offensively.

NFL news around the league

Being in the middle of the NFL offseason, it’s been relatively slow news week besides some topics but with OTA’s starting up some players around the league who are looking for contracts or trades are making headlines by showing or not showing up and that’s what we’ll be talking about in this article.

Chiefs offensive tackle Orlando Brown is very confident that the Chiefs and Brown will get a contract extension done. Brown has played two seasons with Kansas City after being traded from Baltimore to Kansas City, Brown was placed on the franchise tag this offseason and is looking for a big extension.

Aaron Rodgers says he definitely wants to retire as a Green Bay Packer, Rodgers and the Packers agreed to a contract extension in february for over $200 million over four years, after Rodgers was rumored wanting to be traded from the Packers in the last two years Rogders and Green Bay seem to be in a great spot in their relationship.

Dk Metcalf was not present at mandatory minicamps yesterday, Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks are seemingly to be in a weird spot, Metcalf was rumored to be wanting to be traded but also in the same breath wanting to be the next team captain for the Seahawks after former captains Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner departed from the team.

Unlike Dk Metcalf, 49ers Wideout Deebo Samuel has reported to mandatory minicamps. Deebo Samuel asked for a trade from the 49ers earlier in April and was refusing to talk about a contract extension but since then it has been reported Deebo and the 49ers have been mending their relationship this offseason and it seems to be a lot better since the April trade news got out.

Darius Leonard has undergone successful back surgery and will miss the beginning of training camps.

Rams rework Aaron Donald contract

With Aaron Donald wanting a pay raise after winning the Super Bowl, the Los Angeles Rams had no choice but to pay Donald, with Donald being the Rams best player and the Rams being in a win now mode like much of the NFL Los Angeles couldn’t let the All-Pro D-Tackle walk. Donald was recently on a podcast {I Am Athlete} talking about how it’s strictly business with the Rams, Donald has been on the record saying he could walk away from the game of football if the contract does not work out, Aaron still had two years left on his deal but was being underpaid considering the market value for his position, but now with this raise Donald will be making $95 million over the next 3 years, and the craziest part about this is Donald’s cap number actually went down from $26.75 million to $24 million {a savings of $2.75 million}.

With Donald and the Rams having this contract figured out the Rams can focus on bringing in other pieces to make their team even better like Odell Beckham Jr. whos said he’d love to play for the Rams again but not for free, the Rams have also said they’d love to have a reunion with Beckham but with his injury he suffered in the Super Bowl he’s not particularly close to being ready to suit up. On defense the Rams are all set with Aaron Donald coming back, Jalen Ramsey, Bobby Wagner and many others on that side of the ball LA should be very confident in their defense to be one of the best in the league.

Celtics vs Warriors Game 2 Recap

The Golden State Warriors route the Boston Celtics 107-88 to tie the NBA finals at one game a piece. With the series heading back to Boston the C’s look to take a 2-1 lead on their home court. Overall both teams played pretty well but the difference was the Warriors field goal percentage was better than Boston’s. Stephen Curry had another good game finishing with 29 points including 14 in the third quarter, Curry came out swinging for that finals MVP, with Golden State’s role players underperforming for the most part Curry has been really pulling this team in the first two games of these finals. Now that’s not to say the Warriors players haven’t played well, but Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole have to step up, Kevon Looney was great in game 2 finishing with a perfect 6-6 shooting and 7 boards to go along with it.

Jayson Tatum returned back to his normal self finishing with 28 6 and 3 which still wasn’t enough to push himself past the Warriors, much like Golden State the Celtics role players didn’t show up like Al Horford and Marcus Smart having just 2 points each. Jaylen Brown did have a decent game finishing with 17 points but on horrible shooting clips {29.4% FG, 33.3% 3PT}. Derrick White has been a bit of an unsung hero for this team off the bench having good games in game 1 and 2 {last night with 12 points, 4 boards, 2 assists, a steal and 2 blocks}.

Should the NBA season be shortened?

With injuries being a problem in these last few years of the playoffs in the NBA members of the media and around the league have spoken up about the NBA season needing to be shortened to prevent injuries in the playoffs. Former NBA player Richard Jefferson dislikes the idea, but other than Jefferson media members like Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe and many others say the league is wearing on players too much by the time the post season hits, to be real about it I feel the same way, NBA commissioner Adam Silver has spoken publicly about the possibility to shortening the regular season and creating a midseason tournament which I think is ridiculous but if you have a good enough reward for the winner of that mid season tournament it could be a good thing.

Many media members are requesting the regular season gets shortened to 60-65 games which I think is the sweet spot for having a long enough season and still giving the players the necessary rest they need to prevent major injuries. Now this change couldn’t happen for a couple years until the NBA’s tv deals are done but they could begin negotiating with the players to at least get a grasp of what each side wants.

There’s a couple ways to fix the NBA season and here’s a couple change that could be made 1. Players have been sitting out more and more for “load management” throughout the season and fans have been upset considering their the paying customer and wanting to see the star players 2. Players suffering major injuries are keeping players out for the post season due to a lack of rest and 3. With the 82 games there’s no urgency for the players to play hard and no reason for the casual fan to watch all 82 games if nothing is at stake for their team at any given night.
