Ranking last 5 NFL Superbowls

We’re in the midst of the NFL offseason and why not rank the last 5 super bowls in order of most boring to most exciting from a fan’s perspective. As the league is transitioning heavily into an offensive league with the quarterbacks and wide receivers being a huge part the “shootout” super bowls are more appealing to the casual fan.

  1. Super Bowl LII Patriots vs Eagles

From Nick Foles starting to the famous “Phili Special” this superbowl was a back and forth shootout with Tom brady having a mvp year and was very appealing to much of the NFL fans to see the Patriots lose a superbowl and how the Eagles have never won a lombardi trophy before.

  1. Super Bowl LVI Rams vs Bengals

This game was such a star studded event, from playing in the new sofi stadium in Los Angeles to the close back and forth game it was how could you not love watching it. This superbowl was unique as there wasn’t a “villain” on either team as much of the super bowls have one on either team, this game was a great for the causal fan who got the best of both worlds on defense with Aaron Donald, Von Miller and Jalen Ramsey to the offense on both teams with Joe Burrow, Jamaar Chase, Cooper Kupp, OBJ and Matt Stafford.

  1. Super Bowl LIV Chiefs vs 49ers

This game isn’t as appealing but still a great game towards the end with Patrick Mahomes becoming the league’s top QB and the whole Chiefs offense making a name for themselves. This game also solidified the new style of play NFL teams play with nowadays and how important having the right QB is.

  1. Super Bowl LV Buccaneers vs Chiefs

The trash talk in Super Bowl LV was the highlight, this game wasn’t particularly close but had some good moments, from Brady and Gronk having that connection for two touchdowns and making history by winning more super bowls as a duo, it wasn’t a close game to say the least after halftime. The Kansas City Chiefs were banged up on the offensive line which made this game more of a blowout then it needed to be.

  1. Super Bowl LIII Patriots vs Rams

Ranking in as the worst super bowl in the last 5 years, this Rams vs Patriots matchup coulda been so much more exciting, with the Rams having a star studded team with Todd Gurley, prime Aaron Donald and many more pieces this game was very unappealing to the casual football fan. This game went from USA’s top sporting event of the year to shutting the TV’s off early as it was a heavy defensive battle throughout most of the game.

Top 3 Candidates To Be Madden 23 Cover

This list is based on who made some of the key plays of last season, what players made last season as special as what it was. Now there will be no cover athlete who has already been on the cover before, I will give my honest opinion and thoughts on why each player should be on the cover of Madden 23 in no particular order.

  1. Cooper Kupp

With Cooper Kupp having possibly one of the best seasons for a wide receiver last season Kupp had to be on the list, Cooper is the only wide receiver in NFL history to have the triple crown {most receiving yards, touchdowns and catches} in one singular season and to go on top of that be one of the few wideouts to win superbowl mvp.

  1. Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow is seen around the league as a top rising star after taking the Cincinnati Bengals to the superbowl last season, Burrow was also in the top 3 for regular season MVP honors finishing behind Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Since the start of the season Burrow has been all around social media for his outfits with some nicknames being attached now as “Joe Shiesty, Joey B and Joe Burrrr” not only the fans love him but he’s backed his name up on the field with his incredible gameplay.

  1. Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald made potentially two of the biggest plays last season in the superbowl, Donald now has a ring and some are calling him a top 2-3 defensive player of all time in the NFL and that’s highly true. Aaron Donald has had one of the best careers for a defensive player making all pro and pro bowl honors since the day he was drafted almost a decade ago, Donald has also been the top defensive player in the league and an overall top 3 player for the last near decade ranking above most quarterbacks not named Tom Brady. Most fans have been asking for a defensive player to make the Madden Cover for a while now and Donald should be that guy, not to say as the last defensive player to be on the cover of Madden was Richard Sherman in 2015.

NFL NFC Quarterbacks ranking

This list is based on a few different things like age, improvement over last season or who I think will decline, and the quarterback has to play over half the season to be on the list.

  3. Matt Stafford
  4. Kyler Murray
  5. Jimmy Garoppolo
  6. Kirk Cousins

  9. Carson Wentz
  10. Justin Fields
  11. Sam Darnold
  12. Jared Goff
  13. Jameis Winston
  14. Desmond Ridder
  15. Daniel Jones
  16. Drew Lock

Jaire Alexander sings multi year extension

Jaire Alexander has been a top corner in the NFL for some time now and he’s finally getting paid, Jaire and the Packers agree to a four year $84 million dollar extension with a $30 million signing bonus and another $11.5 million roster bonus by march making him the highest paid corner in NFL history via NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport monday afternoon.

The Packers drafted Alexander in the first round in 2018 and has been to multiple pro-bowls and has been named All-Pro in 2020. Jaire has been the most important player on defense for the Packers since he was drafted, safe to say Alexander wont be going nowhere for the time being.

Grady Jarrett signs extension with Falcons

The two time pro bowler is staying in Atlanta, Grady Jarrett and the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a three year contract extension worth $51 million with $34.5 million guaranteed, NFL Network Ian Rapaport reported Tuesday.

Jarrett has been a familiar face in Atlanta playing seven seasons and now three more, Grady has been one of Atlanta’s top players for a few years now and he got another big payday, lowering his cap number for the upcoming 2022 season. Jarrett is 29 and has seemingly been inconsistent these last 2 seasons, many could say the star defensive tackle hasn’t had much help beside him since the 2016 superbowl year. While Jarrett isn’t big on sacks he is one of the league’s best run stoppers and while that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet he always is making big plays on the field.

Tyrann Mathieu expected to sign with the Saints

The All-Pro safety is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints. NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport reported earlier today, per a source.

Tyrann is now heard to his fourth team in his nine year career, Mattieu was drafted by the Cardinals in 2013 but then was traded to the Texans in 2017-2018 season and only played one season in Houston before eventually making his way to Kansas City. After playing the last three seasons in Kansas City and winning a superbowl in his second year there. The three time pro bowler will now be joining the New Orleans Saints and a stacked secondary, it will also be a homecoming for the “Honey Badger” as he played for LSU in college

Matthieu was rated the sixth best free agent this offseason and is finally finding a home after Kansas City didn’t even give Mathieu a contract offer and additionally the Chiefs signed former Texans safety Justin Ried to a three year contract that closed the door for a potential return for the Honey Badger and the Chiefs.

Tyrann was the heart and soul of the Chiefs defense and is a phenomenal leader on the defensive side, any team would be lucky to have Mathieu’s presence in the locker room and the Saints are getting just that.

Top 10 Free Agent Signings and Trades

This list is up to date as of 3/15, and does not include players that were already on the team.

  1. Russell Wilson to the Broncos

Putting this #1 wasn’t a hard decision considering what the Broncos gave up and what they just acquired in Russell Wilson, Wilson coming off his first losing season of his career in seattle is looking to make a big splash in the AFC West this upcoming season.

  1. J.C Jackson to the Chargers

J.C, considered a top corner in the league, is considered to be underpaid looking at the other corners in his ballpark making close to 20 million per year, J.C is only averaging 16.4 million per year.

  1. Amari Cooper to the Browns

I put this so high on the list because of the discount the Browns got on Cooper, the former Dallas wideout coming off a rough year looks to bounce back in Cleveland as the WR1.

  1. Khalil Mack to the Chargers

Mack is an elite pass rusher in this league, though he may be past his prime he’s still a top pass rusher in this league and will be a monster duo pairing Mack with Joey Bosa on the other side. Mack was traded for a 2nd round pick in this upcoming draft and a 6th in next year’s draft.

  1. Brandon Scherff to the Jaguars

Scherff is a premiere pass protector in this league who will now be protecting 2nd year QB Trevor Lawerance, the all pro guard was set to have a big pay day and he got his wish.

  1. Justin Ried to the Chiefs

Ried coming off a terrific year with the Texans is now headed to the AFC favorite Chiefs, Ried will now replace the honey badger as the teams top secondary player and heart of the defense which is a big void to fill.

  1. Charvarius Ward to the 49ers

Ward coming from Kansas city as the #1 corner will now join a loaded defense in      San Francisco looking to make a splash in the wild NFC west, San Fran got Ward on a pretty lucrative deal but Ward will make a big impact in the teams secondary in the upcoming season.

  1. Mitchell Trubisky to the Steelers

Tribisky coming off a backup year to Josh Allen Mitchell looks to make a comeback as the Steelers starting QB. The 2017 2nd overall pick is looking to get his career back on track after the Bears showed no interest in keeping Trubisky and getting no playing time backing up Josh Allen.

  1. Alex Cappa to the Bengals

Coming off a best year the pro bowl level guard is now protecting super bowl QB Joe Burrow who was sacked 71 times last year. The 27 year old guard got his big pay day and he got it! After protecting Tom Brady last year Cappa is gonna have his hands full protecting Joe Burrow.

  1. Sebastian Joseph-Day to the Chargers

The super bowl champ D tackle is heading just down the street to the Chargers getting a big payday! Joseph-Day will now be paired with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack which shouldn’t be too different from being paired with Aaron Donald and Von Miller last season as the league’s scariest pass rush.
