Aaron Rodgers to play for New York Jets

Aaron Rodgers has made his decision! Rodgers is planning to play for the New York Jets in 2023 as long as the two sides agree to financial and trade compensation. Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday afternoon stating, “At this point as I sit here, I think since Friday I’ve made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets,”

Rodgers also stated that he had some tough decisions to make this offseason about playing and if he did want to play where was it going to be. Aaron also talked about the darkness retreat he went on and said “I gotta admit I went into the darkness 90 percent retiring, 10 percent playing,” Rodgers said. “That’s where my mind was, my mind was ‘I’m tired of this.’ I hadn’t gotten back in my workouts yet, and I thought that’s what was best for me. So I went into the darkness, and I contemplated a lot of different things, but one day I spent entirely on the reality I was retired, and one I spent on the reality that I was coming back and playing.

“And I just sat with that for hours and hours, what that looked like, what the reality is, how that all felt, and when I came out I was really interested in what the landscape was, where Green Bay was at, and if I wanted to play what the options were.”

Rodgers is now returning for his 19th season in the NFL but instead of playing for the Green Bay Packers it will be for another team in green, the New York Jets.

NFL free agency winners 3/14

With the NFL free agency window officially opened we had a whirlwind of player signings/trades and teams breaking the bank to sure up their teams to make a Super Bowl run. With over sixty players already signed we’ll go over the top three teams that have made the best and biggest moves thus far.

        New York Giants

The New York Giants made two moves that are significant to both sides of the ball, firstly the Giants made a big splash in trading for former Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller for a third round pick in this years draft, the other underrated move they made is signing free agent linebacker Bobby Okereke to a four year deal worth up to $40 million dollars.

        Houston Texans

The Houston Texans made some moves on Tuesday that are sneaky good moves to develop a culture, the Texans signed free agent Jimmy Ward and a slew of players, the Texans also traded for former Tampa Bay Buccaneer guard Shaq Mason for a sixth round pick which is great value for Houston to protect their quarterback.

        Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks made a very underrated signing and one of the best interior defensive linemen in Dre’Mont Jones to a three year $51.53 million dollar contract. Jones was on the Broncos last year and was arguably the anchor of that defensive line which was one of the best in the league last season.

NFL free agency winners thus far

With the NFL free agency window officially opened we had a whirlwind of player signings and teams breaking the bank to sure up their teams to make a Super Bowl run. With over sixty players already signed we’ll go over the top three teams that have made the best and biggest moves thus far.

        Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos made some killer moves as they signed multiple top offensive linemen to protect star quarterback Russell Wilson. The Broncos signed former San Francisco 49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey to a five year $87.5 million dollar contract and offensive guard Ben Powers to a four year $52 million dollar deal.

        San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are making staggering moves and also making splashy moves as well with possibly the biggest signing of the day in former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a four year $84 million dollar contract and resigning multiple key players to extensions.

        Washington Commanders

The Commanders made multiple moves today that were not splashy but great sneaky signings to make the team better, the Commanders signed offensive tackle Andrew Wylie to a three year $24 million dollar contract, Nick Gates is also joining the club with a three year $18 million dollar deal, Daron Payne also resigned with the team on a four year $90 million dollar deal that keeps Payne in Washington for the next half decade.

Jalen Ramsey traded to Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are making yet another big splash ahead of free agency which starts later next week. The Dolphins traded for all pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in exchange for a 2023 third round pick and backup tight end Hunter Long, this is obviously a huge trade that took over the NFL weekend and gives the Dolphins yet another superstar on their already stacked roster.

With Ramsey having a down year last season by his standards, Ramsey still had what would be a career year for most corners in the NFL, Jalen and the Rams had a season to forget last year with missing the playoffs entirely and being of the bottom teams in the whole league. With Ramsey now on the Dolphins he is adding an element which the Dolphins are already good at, which is defending the pass.

This Miami team seems to be going all in with trading for yet another star and compete for a championship in the AFC and a stacked AFC East division. This Miami defense could be the best defense in the league next year with multiple pro bowl level pass rushers and multiple all pro and pro bowl level secondary players.

Obviously this is a no brainer for the Dolphins that you can get a top corner in the league for a third round pick and a backup tight end. For the Los Angeles Rams this gives them extra draft capital and releases over twenty million dollars off their cap heading into next season.

Panthers trade for #1 overall pick

The Chicago Bears just made a franchise altering move in trading the number one overall pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a slew of picks and players. The Panthers are just one of the handful of teams that have traded for the first overall pick and gave up a king’s ransom to get it.

        Panthers receive

2023 #1 overall pick

        Chicago Bears receive

2023 #9 overall pick

2023 #61 overall pick

2024 2024 first round pick

2025 second round pick

WR DJ Moore

Obviously this is an absolute haul to give up for the number one pick that doesn’t have a sure fire quarterback like a Andrew Luck, Trevor Lawerance or Peyton Manning, most are saying this quarterback draft is closer to last years draft  were there were a few good quarterbacks but no great quarterbacks.

If the Panthers could get a superstar quarterback then this will be a great trade but this could be a bad all in move by Carolina. The Panthers have a good all around roster but have been missing the superstar quarterback that most of last year’s playoff team had.

NFL news around the league for 3/10

The NFL has had a very long week with breaking stories and new rumors coming out each and every day. With another very busy day in the news cycle for the national football league, let’s go through some of the biggest storylines and topics that have come out on Friday.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is staying in Miami for another year potentially, the Dolphins picked up Tua’s fifth year option which is $23.2 million fully guaranteed for the 2024 NFL season. Tua and the Dolphins had a up and down season last year with Tua missing over half of the season due to suffering multiple concussions.

Three time Super Bowl champion Devin McCourty has announced his retirement after thirteen seasons, McCourty has been a lifelong New England Patriot and will now enjoy his retirement as he will retire as a great player and one of the best Patriots of all time.

The Minnesota Vikings are releasing yet another veteran in Adam Thielen, Thielen has been one of the better receivers in the league over the last half decade with the Vikings and will now head to free agency. Thielen is 32 and will look to spend his remaining years with a Super Bowl contender.

NFL news around the league for 3/9

The NFL has had a very long week with breaking stories and new rumors coming out each and every day. With another very busy day in the news cycle for the national football league, let’s go through some of the biggest storylines and topics that have come out on Thursday.

First off we had some cuts and releases around the league due to players unavailable to reach agreements for contract restructures and what not,  we had the New York Jets releasing all pro kick returner Braxton Berrios which clears up over five million in cap space.

Next up we had a couple big name players who restructured their contracts to stay with their respective clubs and open up cap space for their organization, first off we had Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen who restructured his deal to clear $8.9 million dollars in cap space to help the Chargers get under the cap for next year, second we had Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams who cleared another $5.46 million in cap space, thirdly we had Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Taylor Moton who cleared up $11 million in cap space and lastly Miami Dolphins defensive end Bradley Chubb who cleared up $14.646 million in cap space.

Lastly we had the New York Jets trade for Baltimore Ravens safety Chuck Clark for a 2024 seventh round pick. This was a cap clearing move for the Ravens and a great value pickup for the Jets to add to an already great defense which was one of the top of the league last year. This will save Baltimore $4.14 million in cap space heading into the offseason.

No teams signing Lamar Jackson???

Possibly the biggest story of the offseason is former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson who has not yet received a contract from any teams around the NFL. Jackson and the Ravens have been in contact talks for over the last eighteen months and have gotten nothing down thus far.

The Baltimore Ravens put the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar, it  basically says to the rest of the NFL teams that they can sign Jackson to a contract but have to give up two first round picks and the Ravens also can match the deal which would bring Lamar back to Baltimore. Many NFL players have come out to defend Lamar and give their support as to why Jackson is not getting any traction on the open market.

Many fans and media members are speculating that the NFL and team owners are trying to make a statement that they don’t give out fully guaranteed contracts and especially like the one the Cleveland Browns gave to quarterback Deshaun Watson last year.

If this is true then Lamar could be in for a rude awakening if none of the league tries to go for Lamar and that is very possible as most to all of the previously interested teams like the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders have all reportedly lost interest in persuising Lamar this offseason which leads back to if Jackson will have to sign the franchise tag the Ravens gave him on Tuesday.

Aaron Rodgers to New York Jets

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is meeting with the New York Jets Tuesday afternoon to discuss his potential future with the Jets. With multiple reports about Rodgers coming out about “checking out” after signing the contract extension last year and other details that happened in the last few years.

It’s been widely reported that Green Bay has been fed up and tired out with dealing with Rodgers antics the last couple years since drafting Jordan Love in the 2019 draft, since the Packers drafted Love in 2019, Rodgers has been leading the Packers on in the offseason and taking multiple jabs at the organization during the last couple offseasons.

The Packers reportedly want a slew of draft picks for the four time MVP and the market is dictating that the Packers aren’t going to get nearly as much as they think due to the last couple big quarterback trades the last couple offseasons in Matt Stafford and the Russell Wilson trade. If Rodgers and the Jets can come to an agreement on certain things this deal could happen very fast in the next coming days or weeks.

NFL news 3/6

With the NFL having an explosive day with lots of off-season moving starting to be made we had lots of signings, franchise tags and news coming out about players futures with their current teams. Let’s go through each of the players and the news that broke regarding their future in the NFL.

Derek Carr

Carr signed a four year $150 million dollar contract with the New Orleans Saints that brings Carr into a very open NFC South and which makes the Saints a now playoff contender in a weak NFC.

Tony Pollard

Breakout star running back Tony Pollard was franchise tagged by the Dallas Cowboys and will play under the tag most likely, Pollard had a monster year with Cowboys and will look to stay there long term.

Calvin Ridley

Ridley was suspended by the NFL for gambling on a game back in 2021 and hasn’t played since, Ridley was then traded from the Atlanta Falcons to the Jacksonville Jaguars in which he was reinstated today by the NFL, making him available to play next season.

Eric Kendricks

Kendricks is an all pro player back in 2019 and now will be a free agent as he was released from the Minessota Vikings earlier Monday morning, Kendricks was apart of the worst defense in the NFL last season and will now look for a new home.

Allen Robinson

Robinson was granted permission by the Los Angeles Rams to seek a trade as the Rams seem to be clearing cap space and heading towards a rebuild, Robinson had a down year last season but is looking to start fresh with a new team.
