Chicago Bears 2023 off-season options

With the Chicago Bears having a potential franchise changing off on their hands this offseason, with the Bears holding the number one overall pick in this year’s draft, they also have the most cap space in the NFL with ninety three million to sign potential free agents. Let’s go through my top scenario for the Bears this year.

First off let’s start off with the Bears draft picks and cap space going into the offseason, the Bears have the number one overall pick in this year’s draft in which they can trade that pick and get an absolute haul of picks and players. One of the most talked about trades was the Bears moving down to the number four spot in exchange for the Colts pick and additional pro bowl players like Deforest Buckner. With the Bears not needing a quarterback they can and should move down to get additional draft compensation to use for future picks and or trade for star players.

With the Bears having the most cap space in the league with ninety three million, they should look to rebuild the offensive line around quarterback Justin Fields who was running for his life in these two year’s. If the Bears can buy one to two offensive lineman and draft one with a high pick they can seemingly rebuild their line in one year.

The Bears have solid offensive skill position players who are young and are still developing, so they are squared off with that but if the Bears can get better at certain positions on both sides of the ball they can double their wins and contend for a potential playoff spot.

Tom Brady retires from the NFL

The greatest football player of all time has officially retired. Tom Brady is retiring after a long career of twenty three seasons, with Brady having arguably the best records in basically every meaningful statistical category, every fan and media member sees Brady as the greatest player of all time.

Tom Brady has accomplished more in his career than any other player and it’s not even close, with Brady racking up several Super Bowl rings and ten Super Bowl appearances, no other player has even come or will come close to catching Brady in rings. With Brady spending twenty seasons with the New England Patriots he won six rings and created arguably the league’s best dynasty. The Patriots and Brady were the best team year in and year out as they went to eight straight AFC championship games and ranks number one in NFL history in completions (7,753), pass attempts (12,050), yards (89,214), passing TDs (649), starts (333), QB wins (251), Pro Bowl nods (15) and Super Bowl MVPs (five). Brady led the NFL in passing TDs five times (2002, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2021), the most such seasons by any player in NFL history.

With Brady being the ultimate competitor he was known as the guy to outwork every single person on the team or any player in the NFL, Brady is seen as a Cinderella story as he was drafted in the six round by the Patriots in the year 2000 NFL draft. With Brady playing over twenty seasons in the NFL he reset the record for how long quarterbacks are playing till, before Brady the NFL saw a max quarterback career of 10-15 seasons and now players like Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are likely to play into their 40’s.

Tom is a no doubt hall of famer and can be elected in 2028 were he is a guaranteed lock to be a first ballot hall of famer. Tom had the best career any player could have ever dreamed of and now we can reflect on his career and watch Tom in his post football life. Congrats Goat on the retirement.

Sean Payton, Demeco Ryans hired as head coaches

With two head coaching spots filled today we had the Denver Broncos hire former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and the Houston Texans hire the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans, let’s go through each hire and what this means for the teams.

First let’s start of with possibly the biggest story in weeks with Sean Payton going to the Denver Broncos, with Payton retiring from coaching the New Orleans Saints last season, Payton was still under contract going into this cycle of head coaches meaning that any team who wanted to trade for Sean had to give the Saints draft capital in return for the rights to Payton. The Denver Broncos gave up a king’s ransom of a 2023 first round pick, and a second round pick in 2024. The Broncos do get a third round pick in the 2024 draft to go with Payton. The compensation for what the Broncos are hiring Payton to is uncertain but it’s likely to be over twenty million per year.

Lastly we have the Houston Texans hiring San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans, with Ryans being one of the top coaching candidates this year, Demeco and the Texans have been linked for a couple weeks now ever since the firing of Lovie Smith. With Demeco coordinating a top three defense in the league this year he led the 49ers defense to a NFC Championship game. This could be a big deal for the Texans as they have landed a potentially great head coach in Demeco Ryans as Ryans was under the famous tree of Kyle Shanahan coaches.

Dallas Cowboys fire OC Kellen Moore

The Dallas Cowboys have fired offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, which was a surprise to most fans and media members as Moore was one of the top coordinators in this league. With Kellen Moore, the Cowboys have had a top five offense in three of the four seasons that he is called plays, the only year the Cowboys didn’t have a top-five offense was when quarterback Dak Prescott was injured for the most part of the year.

With one of the league’s best offenses, the Cowboys and Kellen Moore had plenty of success, as the Cowboys have had one of the league’s best skill position groups between the running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers.

The Los Angeles chargers have hired Kellen Moore as their office of coordinator, and will hand the offensive plays over to Moore, with Kellen going from Dak Prescott to Justin Herbert, this Chargers offense could really take a leap next year as the Chargers have better weapons than the Cowboys did during Moore’s tenure in Dallas.

With the Cowboys firing Kellen Moore, it will be nearly impossible to find a better offensive coordinator than Moore was, this was one of the more shocking moves as this shows that the Cowboys front office in organization is slowly becoming more and more dysfunctional as they move off of the top five offensive coordinators in this league.

Recapping NFL championship Sunday

With the NFL season winding down we have four teams remaining and two games on Sunday. From the AFC conference we have the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in Arrowhead stadium which will be a great rematch from earlier this year, from the NFC conference we have possibly the two best rosters in football in the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Let’s go through each game and how they played out.

San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles

With the Philadelphia Eagles beating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon 31-7, the Eagles are advancing to the Super Bowl. With this game being one of the bigger blowouts in the last half decade, the 49ers couldn’t keep up with Philadelphia’s offense once 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy went down with an elbow injury. The Eagles are advancing to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2017 when they beat the New England Patriots. With the 49ers playing their fourth string quarterback in Josh Johnson, Johnson eventually went down, forcing the 49ers to play running back Christian McCaffrey at quarterback.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 to advance to the Super Bowl in which they will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles. With this game being a nail biter throughout, the Chiefs got a few calls that were very controversial and is what is the talking point around the league right now. With Joe Burrow having a good game he just couldn’t overcome the tipped passes that turned into interceptions. Patrick Mahomes on the other hand had a potential top three game of his career considering the circumstances.

Aaron Rodgers top 3 landing spots for next season

With Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers once again going on his media tear with going on the Pat McAfee show and other various media discussions, Rodgers is confusing the media and fan members of the NFL if he wants to be traded, retire or come back to Green Bay for another year. Let’s go through my top three spots for Aaron Rodgers to play next season.

Tennessee Titans

With the Tennessee Titans being the number one choice and talked about landing spots for Rodgers if he were to be traded, it makes sense with what the Titans have to offer to Rodgers and Green Bay in a trade package. With a great run game and defense this Titans team could do some damage in the AFC South if Aaron was to be added to Tennessee, with Tennessee being one of the most physical teams in the NFL Aaron could be less relied upon to carry the workload of an offense and be more of a distributor and system quarterback as he ages.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are one of the spots Rodgers could land simply for the fact of wide receiver Davante Adams is there, which Adams was Rodgers top target for over half a decade in Green Bay. With the Raiders moving off of Derek Carr this season, it’s no secret Las Vegas is looking for a new quarterback and Rodgers with that skill position group could be one of the league’s highest scoring offenses.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are still on this list as Rodgers has stated multiple times in the past that he’d like to retire as a Packer and play there for the rest of his career. With the Packers in such a tough spot with backup quarterback Jordan Love, the Packers have to make a decision and could get some good draft capital if they decide to trade Love this offseason. With Rodgers being so familiar in Green Bay and with another year with the rookie wide receivers like Christian Watson and Romeo Doubbs, this offense could take a big leap of Rodgers decides to stay.

NFL conference championship power rankings

As we head into the NFL conference championship round of the playoffs we have the last remaining four teams that could win it all in the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs, let’s go through each of these teams and give my power rankings for each of the teams.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals

With arguably the best all around offense remaining in these playoffs the Cincinnati Bengals with quarterback Joe Burrow has been a team nobody wants to face, from the talented wide outs to the ferocious defense, this Bengals team could easily make it back to the superbowl.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have by far the best offensive line and best run game remaining in these playoffs without a doubt. With quarterback Jalen Hurts having a great game last week against the New York Giants, this Eagles team is ready to make another superbowl run.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have the best quarterback in the league in Patrick Mahomes and it isn’t even close, with this Chiefs team being so explosive on any given day, they have the chance to beat any team on any given Sunday. With 3 of the top players in the league in Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones, this Chiefs team really relies on their stars to make the big plays.

  1. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are at the bottom of the remaining teams due to their lack of experience and play at the quarterback position, but with this 49ers team being so deep at every single unit on all sides of the ball, they don’t rely heavily on their quarterback and rely on the run game which is a very one dimensional way of winning against any of the remaining playoff teams.
